Thomas Massie is a former Lewis County, KY judge who was elected to the U.S. House of Represenatives in 2012. Massie was a part of the Tea Party movement that swept into Congress during that time frame. Massie is also dedicated to green and environmentally-conscious causes. He currently lives with his family in a solar-powered home that he built.

Representative Massie is also dedicated to the Industural Hemp cause. He is one of many politicians working across party lines to rebuild the agriculture industry in the Bluegress. As such, he is one of the sponsors of the 2017 Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2017. The bill is an effort to close some of the legal loopholes present in the 2014 Farm Bill. As such, it would serve to strength the role of Industrial Hemp in Kentucky and the rest of the country.
